Cabinet approves draft statement on ASEAN-Russia meeting on COVID-19

 

   

BANGKOK (NNT) - A meeting of cabinet ministers today endorsed a draft statement to be issued at the ASEAN-Russia Ministerial Meeting on the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

 

The Deputy Government Spokeswoman, Traisuree Taisaranakul, said today that Indonesia, as the coordinator of the ASEAN-Russia Dialogue Partnership, issued a statement saying Russia proposed that a special meeting on the COVID-19 situation will take place on June 17, 2020.

 

Participants in the meeting will discuss ways to enhance cooperation in dealing with the pandemic and the research and development of vaccines for COVID-19, to promote the health and well-being of the people.

 

The meeting will also discuss measures to facilitate returnees from the ASEAN member countries and Russia; cooperation in trade, investment and tourism to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on the economy; the establishment of a regional fund to address issues related to the pandemic and the budget allocation from the ASEAN-Russia Dialogue Partnership Financial Fund.
