Compensation holidays for Songkran will not be proposed to the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) at its meeting this Friday, Culture Minister Ittipol Khunpluem said today (June 23).

The minister said the CCSA meeting will mainly discuss the reopening of schools and the fourth phase of lockdown easing's feedback. It will also consider allowing closed high-risk businesses to restart.

“The prime minister is concerned about the reopening of schools on July 1,” Ittipol said, adding that the fourth phase of lockdown lifting has received positive feedback.

Meanwhile, religious agencies will allow people to make merit on Khao Phansa Day but only if they wear face masks and do not have a high fever. The Khao Phansa holidays run from July 4 to 6, he said.

Ittipol added that there is also no prohibition on the Candle Festival and attendant numbers are not limited.
