Just so we are clear, you are seriously going to try and argue that mobs going around toppling statues is..... Legal?

No it is illegal, but it’s just vandalism. Often a misdemeanor. Not really a serious crime. Certainly nothing to be twisting your panties in a bunch over.

<SNIP>Perhaps you would do better by getting your news and information from sources that are not pursuing an agenda. And I saw what you did there, another trait oft used by the left, you are implying that you will not believe any links which YOU do not deem to be credible. Hilarious. <SNIP>

"Even this Reuters article is dishonest. And I quote; "Trump had used the phrase "when the looting starts, the shooting starts" to threaten deadly force against protesters in Minneapolis, where Floyd died".  This is not only a lie, but to quote an oft used Reuters line, it was "cited without evidence". It is just another example of how the fake news media twist and spin his words for their own agenda"

Which news sources do you recommend?

'Credible links' are forum rules requirement.

I do not belong to the 'left'. I vote based on party manifesto, last time time I voted was for a centre right party.

trump's quote by Reuters was not unattributed, nor a lie - Reuters quoted from trump's online account.

My concern for Americans and for the world in general is trump winning another four years due to his unrepentant efforts to undermine Constitutional checks and balances and the Rule of Law.

Rule of law, constitutional checks ,lol. That's exactly the point, twitter and the left, aren't supporting! They  support beating up cops and mayhem by their silence of it ! It just shows how far left these radicals are,by mocking the POTUS .

A number of posts have been removed. Off topic mostly and a lot of replies to them.

I didn't see any reference to sex toys or illicit smoking devices in the main story, so I see no need for them to appear in discussion.

Didn't see Israel mentioned in the main story either, so that went too.

Stay on topic or further posts will be removed without warning or notification.

No, that was not the point. Several people have been killed over the past few weeks during the so-called "peaceful protests" carried out by the left. If you are not aware of these murders, then perhaps you are getting your news from the wrong sources.

I also did not say that Trump's quote was unattributed or a lie. Maybe you should read what I wrote again. The quote from the dishonest Reuters article was - "Trump had used the phrase "when the looting starts, the shooting starts" to threaten deadly force against protesters in Minneapolis, where Floyd died".  Read the whole quote, not just Trump's tweet. To put it into clearer context, here is the Reuters quote without the tweet;

"Trump had used the phrase to threaten deadly force against protesters"

That is the lie. Do you see it ?? Firstly, Trump never threatened any protesters. Secondly, what Trump actually said was if there was looting, there would invariably be shooting also  (ie armed people protecting their property, security, police, and of course the thugs who were doing the rioting and looting). The context of the tweet was about sending in the troops to restore law and order if/when that happened. The dishonest fake news media and pro Democrat loons just twisted what he said to pursue their own deranged agenda.

One more thing, posting "credible links" is fine, however you just posted a Reuters link to back up a dishonest Reuters story.... ???? ????

That’s were you have it wrong it’s our love of country and democracy that makes us so anti trump no mater how you try to justify him he has proven time and time again he cannot work within the framework of our government instead he try’s to corrupt it no sir imo the onus is on trump

Slowly he has taken steps!

First by executive order!

"They've had unchecked power to censor, restrict, edit, shape, hide, alter, virtually any form of communication between private citizens and large public audiences."

And it seems even William Barr has given up on that ridiculous idea and instead come up with a hopeless plan:

Justice Department recommends new legislation holding Facebook, Google and Twitter liable for some online content

The Justice Department on Wednesday urged Congress to adopt new legislation that could punish Facebook, Google and Twitter for a wide array of harmful content posted online, threatening to erode a long-cherished legal immunity that Silicon Valley says is critical to the future of the Internet.

The new legislation would target Section 230, a decades-old portion of law that spares social media sites from being held liable for the posts, photos and videos uploaded to their sites by their users. The proposal would pave the way for steep sanctions on major online platforms if they don’t act to remove a range of illicit content, from child exploitation to terrorism, according to Justice Department officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity Wednesday.

The virus may have started in China but it is definitely the Trump Pandemic now.  The US appears to have had the worst response, by far, of any country and now the US is the epicenter of the virus.  Sounds like it is getting so bad some states are in danger of having their hospitals overrun.  All while bunker boy, and the rest of the people in his clown car, are trying to slow down testing to try make the numbers not look as bad.  They are even making irresponsible statements pretending that things are getting better and returning to normal.  Nothing could be further from the truth.

An effort at deflection. Unfortunately trump has the power to corrupt the political debate, endeavours to disenfranchise minorities from voting and fails in his obligation to defend the Constitution etc, trump's M.O. is the greater threat to US society across a multiplicity of issues with his egregious behaviour. Is it a surprise US citizens and others 'mock' him, not at all, it's justifiable.

Maybe Off Topic, but as your posts still stands I'll reply. Reuters is recognised globally as a credible news source. Reuters or indeed any other media who don't tow the line for right of centre propaganda will be dismissed by you and others. However, I again ask for your recommended news sources. As a comment I note those from right of centre, rarely, if ever, comply to this request; somewhat similar to trump rarely, if ever, providing verifiable evidence for his allegations.

It is surely not the job of a president to go around destroying private companies - any of them, It is the so called "Land of the free". Of course it is embarrassing to Trump when his endless stream of twisted drivel is halted, particularly when  he clearly thinks that he is a master of social media. Having a president motivated by a personal desire for revenge is something no sane country wants.

Should there be limits on what social media can publish? Well despite Facebook's protestations (Probably motivated by cost) they should be responsible for what they allow to be seen on their platform, just like other media. No paedophilia, direct promotion of  violence, sadism, spreading of conspiracy theories harmful to life (Anti-vaxxers etc).

How exactly you do this is a great legal and technical problem, way beyond the ability of one man,  particularly this sad excuse for a human being.

Twitter is toxic.

Several high profile defectors have headed in that direction already. If Trump goes too it'll be twitter's  loss and Parler's gain. The only disadvantage I can see is that everyone has to sign up in order to read content whereas twitter can be read without having an account.

What about also making the original poster liable as well? After all the OP poster would be the one that started it in the first place.

Parler is a United States-based social networking service launched in August 2018, regarded as an alternative to Twitter. It is marketed as an unbiased, free-speech social media platform focused on protecting "users' rights".[1] It has been noted for its base of users who are fans of Donald Trump, as well as the presence and proliferation of alt-right, neo-nazi, anti-feminist and conspiracy theory content.[2][3]

The point of Twitter and such is to reach out. Parler's purpose seems to be to reach in. That said it probably would benefit Trump to use Parler instead of Twitter if only because it would limit the self-inflicted damage created by his tweets. It would allow Trump to be more out of sight while still being entirely out of his mind.

You are once again missing the point. Reuters may be "recognised globally" but they are anything but a credible news source. If you can't see the anti Trump bias and the propagating of lies in their stories, then perhaps you should've gone to Specsavers. It is rather telling that you accuse them of "not towing the line for right of centre propaganda" (whatever that is supposed to be...) but you are totally oblivious to the fact that they are towing the Democrat party line. Bizarre.

It is painfully clear that you (and others) try to bait myself (and others) to provide (what we think are) credible news sources, in order to dismiss them or make sarcastic remarks about them. Your comment above implies that a news source that discredits a dishonest Reuters article must therefore be "right wing" is a perfect example of this.

However to answer your question without being specific, the first thing you need to realize is that the main stream media for the most part is not "news". The USA has not had a free press for a long time now, that fact has just been more obvious the past few years. Most news rooms consist of Democrat party activists disseminating propaganda and disguising it as journalism. If you only get your news from these sources then you are not being informed. Try reading/watching sources from the other end of the spectrum and you will see plenty of things being reported and discussed that you were not aware of. There is a reason for that. Work out what that reason is and the truth will slowly reveal itself.
