Wondering if the subject has been mentioned regarding people who have the age 50+ retirement extension, and validity/loss of, due to the covid19 situation?

No doubt many people will find themselves in the same situation as myself, with no certain return date, and retirement extension slowly being consumed..

 

Ideally some sort of amnesty/extension like other visa types would be a great idea. 

It isn't going to happen.  If your extension runs out, you will have to start all over again. We who are here have not had any amnesty for our extensions. We had to renew at or before our due date.

I dont think it has been clarified as to what will happen. Ideally they will recognise and honor extensions that expired whilst out of the country and during the amnesty.

Given that the amnesty is for extending/reporting inside Thailand, most likely it will be a case of starting again.

That is why many of us cancelled planned trip out of Thailand as making ret.ext. is close to date....

Those stayed inside Thailand all ret.ext. stays alive....and can keep the rules to follow as normal

Yeah, that would be honorable. But practical? You still have to enter Thailand, and that will take a new visa, or visa exempt (the IO at the airport won't honor your argument). So, what would be the point of banging on the door with "amnesty should have covered expiration while locked outside country?" Instead, assuming you had all your financials in order pre Corvid-19, then, just visit Immigration twice, if going the TM86 or 87 route. No big deal -- or only go once, if able to get a Non Imm O from your current farang country (i.e., you're married to a Thai).

 

Thus, the question you pose is more ethical than practical. With no real reason to pursue the ethical aspect.

They could do it in an easy way. By example:

"All Re-Entry Permits expiring after March 2020 are still valid until 31 December 2020"

 

PS: Don't quote this post! It's just a dream... for now...
