Education authorities in both Chiang Mai and the southern border provinces say that their schools and colleges will reopen on July 1, in line with the rest of the country.

Kittanes Srisawat, Chiang Mai’s education officer, said that schools and other educational institutions in the northern province can open their doors according to the government’s schedule.

The educational committee has ordered “new normal” disease control measures at every educational facility, including mandatory mask-wearing, frequent hand-washing, and social distancing.

Education in Chiang Mai will run under measures stipulated by the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration and related agencies, Kittanes added.

Chiang Mai schools have also been told instructed to monitor staff, students, parents and visitors for infection.

Meanwhile, educational institutions in Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat and four districts of Songkhla will also be permitted to reopen on July 1. The go-ahead was given by Education Ministry inspector Weera Kangkasikan after a meeting of the Border Provinces Coordination and Administration Education Centre.
