Laughing reactions every time there is bad news about Thailand

Featured Replies

I understand that some have been burned by a Thai bargirl or that government made your long term stay in Thailand difficult, but is it really appropriate to pile up laughing "reactions" every time there is news about Thailand facing hardships which is 2-3 times a day lately?

I know this has been repeated adnauseam but if you really hate it here why not just leave?

I've lived in a few countries that were a lot poorer than Thailand. But, I could never call the authorities in those countries arrogant, stupid or incompetent. That's why Thai topics get my laughs.

  • The alternative is the sad and confused face which just looks constipated all the time.

  • In general I read sympathy towards Thai people for the bad situation and laughs about the government. I think you are off track on this..

Or a Thanks reaction which makes you look thankful coz you live in Thailand ????

Probably because a lot of people like to see the piggies at the top of the tree wavering in the wind and grasping onto brittle branches

Nothing to do with, and no reflection on the normal folks that treat every foreigner as a normal person without ripping them off every chance they get........

Quite a few outside now that live in Thailand not very thankful of the lack of information or assistance to get back to their families, and that includes the Thai citizens currently stranded outside......

Some people just get a kick out of other peoples misfortune. It makes them feel really good about themselves. Until, of course the tables are turned....

The ''power that be'' supposed to be in charge of the country come on a daily basis

filled with pride to explain condescendly to us that they are the best about almost all and everything

so don't be surprised if some of us are a little bit cynical and amused when most of the time the

things go south.

That doesn't stop compassion for the random Thai who suffers from the situation

I have lived in the UK and in many Asian countries. Thailand is not the best, I would say Singapore  holds that accolade, but it sure isn't the worst.  Hong Kong is a nightmare and Cambodia a dump. Philippines is dangerous and also a dump  of a country. Taiwan is very nice,  but a bit soulless at times.  I also think that what Thailand has  achieved in the last 5 or so months, in controlling Covid 19, deserves some recognition and a good deal of praise. This place has its frustrations, no doubt about that, which I always acknowledge, but they are nothing compared to the frustrations in my 'home country',  the UK and in a great many other countries that are held up as being superior to LOS.

can't stop laughing...

Sadly when one reads about Thailand majority in general will be negative there is a reason for it. Hate is a strong word but if the solution is to leave a bad situation every time then it would be running away from the problem and not the solution to fixing things.

Just because foreigners and that includes me don't like something doesn't mean we should just leave or run from the problem listening whether one likes it or not there is always some truth in the conversation take that little and try to recognize and maybe address or fix it?

And therein lies one of the greatest problems in the world. Some nations feel they have a god given right to travel the globe and tell others what they are doing wrong, then try and get a solution to their benefit.

Because, I hate Thailand less than I hate the UK.

"if you really hate it here why not just leave?"

For many different reasons, leaving is not an option for some people.

thailand has many good points a lot of bad too.the arrogant racist incompetence of the authorities seem to be the point most people make and its a good one.people have lived here yrs and have no rights no respect from govt, our own self righteous govts/embassies need to drag themselves away from their cocktail parties and self congratulatory culture and deal with this.hypocrisy is a sickening culture and theyre mired in it.i for one wish to move on but am trapped by the virus,i wish to sell my assets here ,namely an apt and that will take a while as the covids screwed the mkt.but i just want out.it aint the only game in town once coronas left.
