I arrived March 14th on emergency entry without being able to arrange O visa based on marriage. As such, I came in on visa exempt and after extending for one month I fell into the amnesty. My wife has asked the Pathum Thani IO if I could extend my stay on the 60 day extension, but was informed that since I didn't extend every month I am now in a special "amnesty" and can't apply for O visa based on marriage OR the extend 60 days to visit family. With the upcoming July 31st deadline, I don't know what to do. Any advice? Thanks

The 3st is not a fixed deadline. They will either extend it or offer special 30 day extensions.

The office was wrong when they said you could not apply for a 60 day extension during or at the end of the amnesty. The 60 day extension can be applied for with any type of permit to stay.

Thanks Uponjoe! What is required of the 60 day extension? I'm hoping, of course that I can tack it on to an extended amnesty period. A non-immigrant O based on marriage is my eventual goal. I would hope that I can eventually do so from here in Thailand without having to leave the country.

Your wife will need to be with you when you apply for the extension.

You will need your marriage certificate and a copy of it. Copies of your wife's house book registry and ID card.

Some offices will also want a recent printout of your Kor Ror 2 marriage registry from a Amphoe.

Ubonjoe: Sorry, one last question. Can this be done at any IO. Nakhon Nayok is closer and probably less busy. And Pathum Thani IO has been tough going in the past.

It has to be applied for at the designated office for where your are living. If your address is for Pathum Thani that is where you will have to apply.

Hi Joe,

Since he is here on an extension of a VisaExempt entry, could he not simply check into an Hotel the night before in a different province and then apply at the IO of that province?

Or does the 60-day extension of stay prohibit doing that because of his wife living in PathumThani?

The 60 day extension falls into a different category than visa exempt and tourist visa extension.

Most offices are stricter on proof of residence for it. Many will want proof you have been staying in the province longer than one night.

No

A printout of the Kor Ror 2 can be requested at any Amphoe.
