We are a western family of four. We've been living and working in Rayong for five years. Work permits all legit, no overstays, all handled by our company. We now have jobs in another Asian country not a million miles away. The work permit paperwork for those jobs has been issued. The work permits start on August 28th. However, that country is currently closed to foreigners. We really need to just stay here in Thailand until the borders open. We figure that could take anywhere from a month to three months. We definitely don't want to go back to our home country.

My question is, how can we extend our visas until we can move to our new jobs? How can we do that without leaving Thailand? Who would we talk to?

Any info gratefully received.

If the amnesty is extended for 30 days that would get you to end of August. After that their may be an option to get a special 30 day extension with a letter from your embassy requesting it.
