SA KAEO, July 17 (TNA) - Thailand continues sealing its border with Cambodia to prevent the spread of COVID-19, allowing only Thai nationals and some groups of foreigners to enter the kingdom.

Fourteen Thai citizens were the latest group to return from Cambodia via Aranyapathet border crossing in the eastern province of Sa Kaeo.  They have been verified by the Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh.

All of the returnees had gone through health check and register their travel record before being placed under mandatory 14-day quarantine.

Infection numbers in Cambodia are slowly picking up again. They were at around 120 cases for a long time and have now already increased to 171 in a relatively short time. Probably repatriated Cambodians...but just saying.

Yes indeed - No new domestic infections, all the latest cases are repatriated Cambodians from Saudi Arabia who flew into Phnom Penh via Kuala Lumpur. All are in quarantine.

Just curious...

Do you consider Cambodia confirmed cases reasonable/trustable since you are there?

As seems like quite a few people don't think Thailand numbers trustable. ????

Surprisingly, yes I do. Evidently I am a "high risk" victim, being elderly and suffering from diabetes, over weight, and high blood pressure (for all of which I am taking medication). I moved here from Thailand 5 months ago and I am in reasonably good health. Every time I go to the bank or supermarket, body temperature always within the 36 to 36.9 range - no fever! Long may this continue.

ALL are imported cases and detected in quarantine

Zero community transmission for months now

Even at its height most were imported cases.

Cambodia has done VERY limited testing, far less than Thailand. Hence more testing = more cases. No wonder the more developed/populous a country is, the more cases detected.

Trucks seem to be allowed to cross without issue since the beginning. Thailand and Cambodia have a quota which is in Thailand's favor, allowing I think 500 trucks across daily. However, local borders operate independently of this agreement and thus impose no restrictions.

Thailand didn't have local transmissions since weeks and Cambodia has nearly no cases.

If these numbers were correct they could just open the border? Don't they believe each other's numbers?

This is a worrying situation as i would imagine the trucks are delivering/collecting from factories/ports (Rayong, Samut Prakan) with a lot of employees, were do they sleep and eat, buy fuel etc. etc. If only a good investigative jurno could follow this up.
