Going To Malaysia

Featured Replies

Hi all

Flying to Malaysia in the next week or so for a few days to have a look around, need advice on hotels. If you have been where did you stay? would you reccommend it to me, or tell me to keep away from that particular one.

Any help appreciated

Price upto 3000฿/night

Many thanks

Warwick :o

At first thought about ten major cities in Malaysia come to my mind. May be add where you are visiting. This might help to give you better replies.

hi

heres a list of hotels from hotel club search. for your budget I guess u would be looking at those below 80$, so from list in this link

http://www.hotelclub.net/hotel.reservations/Kuala_Lumpur.htm

I will suggest some Ive used and have been ok, or others I havent used but I know to be in good ocnvenient location (but again this depends on what u want to be near..embassy? or shopping?) anyhow both locations arent all that far apart. so here goes:

Melia hotel -- shopping (near bukit bintang)

Royale bintang-- shopping

Park Royal -- shopping

Istana -- shopping

MiCasa -- very near embassy area

Concorde hotel -- near night life

remember that all are in the city area, so even if not immediately in embassy suburb, they will still be ok to access the embassy.

places to avoid:

Crowne Princess

Corus Hotel

(esp Crowne Princess who claim to be 5star. they are far far from it!!)

enjoy :o

Thanks for that, as my 90 days is nearly up I thought I'd pop over just to see what its like there, so being close to the embassy is not essential. Just want somewhere clean and nice to make a pleasureable stay.

Looked at the site you suggested and your reccommendations.

Many thanks again

Warwick

well then Id suggest MiCasa..its quite nice and a bit more relaxed as its not in the busiest part of town, and the place being more like a serviced apartment, u get quite good service :o and price is reasonable.

however if you want to be in the centre of things, then Melia is a good option. they have internet free in some rooms, and even provide a computer as well :D

enjoy ...say hi to KL for me :D

We stayed in Royale Bintang and Dorsett Regency in KL, which are both quite good value for money. If you ever plan to go to Port Dickson, do NOT stay in Corus Paradise Resort. This is a so-called four star hotel... yeah right... In Penang, I recently stayed in the Cititel, which is also very affordable and good value.

Looks like you are well advised for hotels and with your price limit should have no difficulties find one to suit. As you are not worried about proximity to the embassy the Dorset Regency is a good choice (close to Jln Bukit Bintang and JLN Sultan Ismail) but you might also want to consider the Prince hotel on Jln Conway. Those two are the only ones I've experienced apart from MiCasa where I've been resident for 16 months.

There are a lot of cheaper hotels in the Jln Sultan Ismail area but I have no experience to recommend or not but you could get rooms for 500 to 1000 Baht a night. However some of them do look a little shabby on the outside but that's not to say they aren't clean as a whistle inside.

PM me if you fancy meeting up for a beer or two.

u are in KL? gee why didnt you say so earlier :D

maybe I'd have fancied a sushi...I can recommend a good place in the bukit bintang area :D:o
