Thai Industry Sector Projected to Bottom out

BANGKOK, July 30 (TNA) – Thai industries have bottomed out on the condition that there will be no second wave of Covid-19 and the Thai economy will continuously recover in the second half of this year, said Industry Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit.

 

The Office of Industrial Economics (OIE) reported the manufacturing production index (MPI) in June increased for the second consecutive month, which is a good sign for the recovery of the manufacturing sector, said the minister.

 

It is predicted that the Thai industry sector bottomed out in the second quarter if there is no second wave in Thailand, he said.

It can’t get any worse, right?  Actually, yes it can.  Rising Baht/USD will continue to crimp exports, and 14-day quarantine further discourages trade.

Most SME's would disagree with that, manufacturing increased in June purely because many closed factories re-opened.

The true figure of whether they will continue to be viable will depend on a lot of other factors not just Covid 19
