BANGKOK, Aug 4 (TNA) – The Marine Department is satisfied with the test run of a model electric boat on Saen Saeb canal, which will help improve passenger boat service in Bangkok to be environmentally-friendly.

Marine Department Director General, Wittaya Yamuang said that the test run of the eco-friendly passenger boat on Saen Saeb canal took about 20 minutes.

The boat ran at 22 km./h for four kilometres from Phan Fah Lilat pier to Pratunam pier without noise pollution.

LOL, 60 km at 20 kmh. So a run time with stops of say 3 1/2 hours, then needs re charging.........how long to charge it?

Article also says it is a 100 seater, surely not the one in the photo, they will be crammed in worse than a mini bus.

Replace the canvas roof with photo voltaic panels. 13 years ago a solar powered (not solar assisted) boat crossed the Atlantic and since then there has been huge developments in solar panels and batteries. With the amount of sun in Thailand, a solar assisted boat (solar + battery) would increase that 60 mile range considerably. Screenshot_20200805_101042.jpeg.b03d0fbfb7203a99e1201f33bd2e1e84.jpeg
