Arab "mafia" running protection racket in Nana - two arrested

Thailand's immigration police chief Lt-Gen Sompong Chingduang announced the arrest of two arabs in the Nana area of Bangkok.

INN said they were local mafia running protection rackets, stealing and committing assaults.

The case began when a Thai salon owner in Soi 3 went to Lumpini police to say that her husband and three year old son had been assaulted by two men she described as mafia figures.

An Apple watch was stolen.

Police discovered that one of the men was Rashwan (name transliterated from Thai) an Iraqi who was living in a condo in Sukhumvit Soi 1.

When police went there Rashwan was nowhere to be found and seemed to have moved out hurriedly. The room was in a mess and no passport was discovered.

The watch was found and a picture was shown to the victims who confirmed it was theirs.

The case resulted later in the arrest of the Iraqi who had entered the country illegally and a man called Ghassan who INN intimated earlier in their report was a Syrian.

He has been long term in Thailand and is facing three court cases and has been ordered by the court to remain in Thailand until they are resolved.

So, Abdullah and Mohammad wanted to be in on the baht cake. That´s about as common as Somchai. ????

Probably thought the could run the Middle east African Soi 1 and 3 their own way.

Q. Mohamed and Mouloud are in a car, who's driving?
A. The police.

At last some vinyl pointing sticks and big odious to muse over covid has even taken that away lately ????

They should have known protection rackets are reserved occupations for BIBs. Friend owns restaurant in Pattaya, gets two shakedowns: one from locals and special team from Bangkok. 10K each per month.

and why is he not in jail ?

It's no surprise that Thais don't want foreigners here. Unfortunately they class anyone not Thai as a foreigner, so the good guys are tarred with the same brush.

That may be, but anyone not Thai is a foreigner in their eyes, except that farangs, as they refer to us as, are Caucasians. They have other terms for people from Africa, South Asia and the Middle East. If you are a good guy, you should have no worries about Thais not wanting you here.  I certainly don't get the aggravation some people on here talk about.

Some people are born unhappy and express that with their hate towards everything around them.

while it's true a foreigner is anyone not Thai, the Thais themselves most certainly have opinions and preference between the different nationalities.

3 court cases pending, so get to work prosecute him jail him then kick him out.

They don't count as "Falangs", they called "Kaeks". For the Thais is a big difference between a Falang and a Kaek.

Surely the mafia aren't interested in Apple watches?  I don't know but if I was mafia then I'd prefer not to be associated with low level crime involving cheap tech.
