Police officer who gave conflicting accounts of Ferrari speed claims he miscalculated

Featured Replies

Absolutely hilarious if it wasn't so pathetic and blatant

If there is anybody who still believe a single word this 'government' and their institutions say they need to get a medical check-up as there is clearly something VERY seriously wrong!

A fish rots from the head down, same same here...

His 2016 calculations were confused due to the extra 000's in his bank account weighing on his mind no doubt.

just call the US and get some true traffic accident reconstructionists who can lay it all out. I am sure the UK as well as Australia and NZ also have folks who could do it.   Stop the games.

  • ‘Mr. Suthon maintained that Vorayuth’s car speed was 177kph, while Mr. Saiprasit maintained that the speed was about 79kph’   How can two ‘forensic scientists’ be so far apart in their calcu

Such an easy thing. The damage at the car clearly can tell the speed at the moment of impact. Not in Thailand, though.

The US has 3 to 4 times as many people dying in traffic (per 100.000 inhabitants per year) than most European countries (UK included). So if you want the best then don't bring in the yanks. ????

yes any country except Thailand the judge the distance by how big the brown bag is given to them

Next they'll be saying that that the policeman didn't die (the policeman being killed I thought was the point) and the whole thing was a big misunderstanding. I don't know why they bother with all this and just say they've decided it wasn't Vorayuth's fault, case closed. I'm pretty sure that's how it will end.

Everytime the Police open their mouths, they just make themselves look more stupid

They didn't pay him enough to stick to his first Statement.   ????????????

The damage on the car does not look like the car was travelling at 177 km per hour . I think 60 to 80 km per hour looks closer to the truth .

Looks like you went to the same university as that "scientist".

First of all he may have braked before the collision.

Second the damage was caused by the difference in speed between his car and the bike.

Third the speed may have been calculated from videos well away from where he hit the bike.

No, just their toes

But they've only got 10 toes???????

Both Doctors came from within the Thai education system, both had their profession handed to them they are loyal to whomever provides the most benefits to them in life and that is usually depends how large the red envelop? The legal system and police are the biggest laughing stock of the world Thai drivers never worry about speed so how are they going to calculate it?????

Honestly, does most of the world give a rat's toss about Thailand?

All part of defenselawyers strategy..

Now he can claim that this officer is totally unreliable and unpredictable since he is changing his story all the time. Its going to soon be dismissed

Be fair, it does take years of practice.

Dont worry....finally they will state it to around 40 km/h????

Yeah, right.

How fortunate that you just realized you were wrong...

So where is the good old air marshal while all this is going down? At least his co-witness is no longer available to support anything, except how to have a fatal crash on a motorbike!

And the comedy continues. Awaiting the next hilarious chapter from this saga and response from the keystone cops.

Had many good laughs at the cost of various 'specialists' and government officials over the years, but have to say this case is likely to evolve into a very good comedy (unfortunately at the cost of the poor policeman who died) as we are likely to see continuous stream of funny statements around the case...

Wonder if the the people actually understand that their statements make the whole nation appear as a joke as this kind of show is allowed to happen. Also, wonder how the people related to the various red bull racing teams esp F1 think about the brat as I have understood he hangs around those...

It's not important for the dismissal of the case.

Did he hit the bike, did he kill anyone.

Did he drag someone under the car disregard the person could be alive.

Did he run from the site.

When he finally appeared did he test positive for anything.

And finally haw fast was he driving.

Did he leave any skit marks and if so how long.

The murder charge is surely the fact he drag the man under his car disregard he might be alive

which is a possibility with lower speed.

All the talks about the lower speed is actually making the crime worse.

I take him to Somalia and let some the black ones drag him alive after a car and he might get an idea what he done.

And if some police like to try i can probably arrange for that too.

It's a horrible crime surely lack of anyone home on top floor had something to do with this.

He is not only spoiled.

Thailand probably doesn't have a law that prohibits dragging a person under one's car for 100m. Case dismissed. ????

...we certainly do Olly.

Is all this speed calculation talk about observed speeds before the collision? I hope so, because there is no way that car hit that bike at any tremendous speed...there would not be a bike left to look at if he hit that thing at 177 KmH...It seems the facts don't matter, only the circumstances of how the facts were handled...

Is this a true story or the script for a TV comedy series?

In the last 2 weeks or so we've had:

Charges against the accused dropped.

Cocaine use explained as a dental procedure.

The death of a major witness.

The loss and destruction of a witnesses phone containing information pertinent to the incident.

A police officer confused about speed calculations.

You couldn't make this stuff up!

It would be good if there was a table with dates and statements to this debacle to see the funniest story unfold

How low can they sink ?

Even if they reopen the case and it goes to trial, where are they going to find 12 good men and true who have not been biased by the press coverage.

Oops, silly me, wrong country, wrong legal system. Sorry.

A well-informed source said that Pol Col Thanasit Taengjan, a scientist attached the Office of Police Forensic Science, told the police panel investigating the handing of the case, that Vorayuth drove the super car at 177kph, as he originally stated, instead of 79.23kph claimed in a subsequent statement given in 2016.

So initially 177 kph, then revised down to 79.23 kph after a deposit to help with his mathematics.

The first estimate was out by approximately 1 million baht.

I've stopped reading anything about this long-running fairy tale. There's just no point. We all know that, at the end of the lies - sorry, misunderstandings - , nothing at all will happen. No-one will be jailed for lying or perverting the course of justice, and the alleged police killer will continue to evade the courts.

I would stick my head as deep as i can up my own <deleted> if I call myself an expert and fail 100kph in my "expert calculation".
Or would I shave my head and run to the next temple?
Hope this "expert" doesn't lose face. ????

Riiiiiiiiiiiight! Pretty obvious, the whole situation got too hot because of the backlash and now he wants to get his head out of the noose! That guy needs to be fired immediately and held responsibly for his lie ASAP!
