When Thais are only entitled to six days per year annual paid leave - and none in their first year of employment in any particular work place - you want to begrudge them their entitlement to go home a

Normally not in September and November too.

The holiday is for non civil servants too. In your country they stopped the holidays because they have unemployed?

Yes, theoretically it's for everybody, but in practice only the civil servants and professionals like lawyers and banks will actually get it. And it's nothing to do with the pandemic or unemployed, Thailand has long been like that. Maybe you should learn something about Thailand and how the ordinary folk live before making yourself look silly with a post like that.

More absolute BS. It is you who knows nothing about Thailand. I actually work here, speak the language and came to this country the first time in 1981.  Maybe you should visit some other places in Thailand and meet with more Thais from a different background.

So do the Brits in UK, who need to get off their collective asses and get back to work. At least the Thais are doing that, with just a couple of long weekends to holiday. The Brits are whining about their 2 week holiday in the sun, which they still want, while the government pays them to stay off work.  Now that is pathetic.  Thai long weekends I can deal with.

One.  One day in July.

If they continue with that nonsense they can have holidays all year long soon. Don't they have two days in addition for the new King and Queen?

We observed Songkran holidays this year and had a full week closed. Who is going to pay for these additional holidays?

The Thai Tourist board will be rubbing their hands

Think of the large  numbers of  Thais and expats travelling to Pattaya , Hua Hin

Hotels full restaurants packed

Happy days

I think that is the point.. holidays to try and stimulate the economy..
