TOURIST DEATH:

Japanese man found hanged

BANGKOK: -- A Japanese tourist was found hanged in a hotel room after staff had noticed he was behaving strangely, police said yesterday.

The body of Muto Keichi, 29, was found at 3.30pm yesterday in the Manhattan Bangkok Hotel. He was hanging from an air-conditioner pipe, Police Maj-General Yuth Thongyoo of Lumpini police station said.

"He checked into a twin-bed room on June 6 and two or three days ago he seemed to be stressed," a maid told the police. The maid knocked on his door yesterday and when she got no reply, found the door was locked from the inside. She asked another staff member to enter the room through the window.

The Japanese Embassy is contacting the man's relatives.

He was probably thrashing about and making some noise I guess!
