Say what????

The ones whose visa is so 'elite' that they're still not allowed back into the country.

  • This will be sure to get the foreigners flooding back in. They love having their moves tracked by Military Juntas.

Contact tracing involves ‘everyone being tracked’   Thus: IF this suggestion is to work, it only works if ‘everyone' has an App on their phone which traces their movement.    What

  • time to get the burner phone ready

Firstly nobody is going to pay 100,000 baht to enter thailand for 1 m0nth holiday 2 months or even 6 months holiday go into isolation for 2 weeks this is what is charged right now so no tourists arrive in october so who is going to use the app ? and i only have wifi at my hotel i dont have internet on my mobile and alot of places dont have wifi that i visit so i wont be able to use the app YOU NUMBSKULLS !WHAT A BUNCH OF MONKEYS RUNNING THE SHOW !

LOL...this is the final nail in the coffin of the Thai tourism industry. They really not get it. All this stupid plans like 'safe and sealed' or this tracking app with prevent any tourist who possesses more than one brain cell to come to LOS. All this NEW NORMAL is complete BS.

What tourist? What if the tourist don't have a phone? In the USA they are talking about

putting a micro chip in your wrist or forehead your choice. It's a mad mad world we live in.

Track all foreigners it is. Not tourists but everyone who isnt Thai or probably Chinese.????

It is a hallmark of any totalitarian or dictatorial regime to be obsessed with collection of information - however relevant or irrelevant it may be.

The current Thai government has displayed this trait on many occasions especially with respect to foreigners - e.g. the expats form for moving around the country.

Let be clear on one thing; Thailand has been lucky with covid. It hasn't been through measured and science based knowledge, it has just been the accident coincidence between culture and draconian measures - how effective we may not know for years to come and this is just another nape-of-the-neck dictum that may or may not take effect.

How frustrating!  I am being forced to move to another hotel by Sept. 1st because my present hotel is becoming an Alternate Quarantine Site.  Now they are proposing to admit tourists with just a COVID test and no quarantine. So what am I moving for? Some of the tourists admitted after October 1st may choose to stay in my new hotel, putting me in the same situation I would be in if I stayed in my present hotel.????

He said that the app was important and necessary to trace foreign tourists in the event of a case of Covid-19.

Might as well make it an ankle bracelet and an orange jumpsuit !

A smart tourist would bury their phone next to a temple and pick it up on the way

home.

Furthermore, why is it not necessary to trace Thai returnees?

Can’t wait to get tracked by military morons. I’d fly in with my old Nokia and these axxxxxxx can try and track that.

And what about millions of Thai’s employed in the Tourist Sector? the 17.6% GDP from Tourism?

The 90% of Phuket who without tourism have no income?

What about when ‘you get car-jacked’ or robbed because people are so very very desperate they will do anything for food.

Better just keep them out’ is extremely short sighted. Its not a solution its a knee-jerk reaction.

Thailand needs an intelligent and workable solution which provides a boost to the dying tourist sector and all the sub-trades to which money is filtered down through tourism.

There is no way you will get any intelligence from a bunch of military "educated" soldiers.

It's ok for me the important thing is that I can return. Although I am not a tourist but a non immigrant visa holder with a reentry permit

All fine and good, but how are these chaps going to differentiate between a "tourist" here for a few days/weeks and those of us who have lived here for a decade or longer? Are we going to be forced to install this tracking app too?

I don't think we get a look in?

Same the thousands of expats stuck outside of Thailand.

The word is tourists.

Or Elite tourists..

We also contribute who choose to live there.

(Not that anyone seems to notice it)

We will be getting back home with the tourists by the look of it..????

Is this also for expats who live here and never been out of Thailand during Covid?

What about tourists arriving with one of these???

It's got nothing to do with tracing foreign visitors in Thailand.

I live in Thailand and was advised to check my phone today by a friend in the U.K. and it's there, added without my knowledge or permission.

To check go to settings - google settings.

Although it is currently turned off and the app hasn't installed yet it's the 1st step in being able to track your every move

George Orwell was right, he just got the year wrong

What about tourists arriving with one of these??? (sorry, post seems to have duplicated)

no, it doesn't because a solution that allows tourism in a pandemic doesn't exist (though many countries keep getting their health care systems repeatedly kicked in the teeth trying, though it is great business for the undertakers).  I couldn't stop laughing watching all the Brits running home from France when they declared quarantines, Monty Python in real life. Thailand doesn't need anything to do with that circus going on over there. What it needs, and also the rest of the world, is a workable vaccine. All the rest of this is BS, its just going around in circles between virus containment and rampant infection rates, whole nations banging their heads against walls in futility. Just because you want something to be a certain way because the alternative is painful doesn't alter the course of this pandemic - time for some people to grow up..

Time to realize that this pandemic will not be eliminated by these measures.

Eventually, economies will reach a tipping point and not recover

Btw, you realize that more than 99% of the population in source countries is healthy. If you implement a testing program, chances of importing this virus are close to zero and the economy still runs.

At some point, people without jobs, money and food will become restless and desperate.  More will perish from hunger, during crimes or during civil unrest.

Who would want to be a supposedly rich foreigner in a poor country full of desperate people?

It may also help to convince tourists what a bunch of ...kwits are running this country!

lol. thanks to these kwits (whatever that means) Thailand has an extreme low number of infections. i guess "some people" will never see positivity.

That lends itself to having an intelligent and working parliament and politicians.

This mob are all about themselves.

And basically couldn't organize a booze up in a brewery.

One day they will all come together and have a unanimous vote on something..

Why not just make them wear a dog collar and leash? There are enough unemployed Thai's to lead the around! Morons!

That's my policy around the house. That and spanking.

Be like me. I don't have a phone.

If they visit a shop or something like a zoo they have to give a contact number.

Few places even in BKK are enforcing that anymore.... About the most that's going on is pretty regular temp checks and mask wearing upon entry to various places.  The rest has slacked off considerably.
