Leaving BKK for NYC ..................................

Featured Replies

I am thinking about leaving the City for another City.  Are you aware of any necessary documents that I need to present Immigration upon leaving.?

And, is it at all possible?  HOW .... do I have to go thru Europe ??

There are not restrictions for leaving the country and no documents are required to do it. Just your passport with a visa in it if not traveling to your home country.

People are leaving the country all the time and have been for months.

United Airlines  flight to LA via Guam from Hong Kong. Thai Airways,Cathay Pasific and KLM flight to Hong Kong from BKK. Other route's is via Europe. Philippines Airline flight Honolulu or Guam from Manila.

My friend not need any document's in Suvarnabhumi airport but he flight whit Finnair to Helsinki (hes home coundry). Look like it's much more easy to fly Europe than USA.

Air China fly JFK from Beijing!

Also Asiana and Korean Airlines via Seoul. Both fly into JFK and usually cheaper than going via Europe,

Asiana has a seat option in Economy that gives more leg room, at reasonable added price.

Example!

A good number of the airlines you mention doesn't operate right now. Thai Airways is grounded with the exception of some special flights.

I've taken Eva, BKK to Taipei to transfer, then over the pole and a stop in Anchorage or Seattle, same plane to NYC.  Pre-epidemic of course.

Once did NYC to Detroit, then over the pole to Tokyo, then another flight to BKK; I can't recall which airline, maybe United.  That was long ago.

Went via Cairo on Egyptair once.

You can buy any commercial carrier ticket but keep in mind that certain carriers are not a convenient choice. Emirates for example requires a negative Covid test for passengers, Qatar Airways makes people in Economy Class wear these ridiculous plastic face shiields.

Yeah need watch company policy first!

Recommend Qatar via Doha to JFK. Daily service, simple, safe, reliable, best refund/voucher/resched policy out there.

In these times I would ticket directly from the airline.

Soi Dog foundation is asking if you could take a few dogs with you on the way out...

Most cheap also. And don't know service on plane now , before it always been exellent. Even have more leg space in Qatar than many other company. If have face shield what FlyingThai said , it is what it is now!

You DO realize that will be a one way only trip for months?

Take the A train - - and have a slice of Ray's Pizza for me...

Going via Detroit, that would have been Northwest (or Northwest Orient prior to its name change, or Delta after its merger).

Sounds right.  Also I started out from Dulles (DC area) on that trip.  I used to just shop around for the lowest one-way fares.  I tried to keep it to companies that let me accrue Continental miles (before United took them over).

I'm not one of those people who is about critiquing airports, but I really disliked Dulles for putting you on those Star Wars troop carrier things to get to the plane.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to answer.

Since friends and family can't visit me, i'll take a year off and re-apply for my retirement visa in 2022

And they had the audacity to call those ridiculous crowded trucks "mobile lounges"! Fortunately, the last time i was there (2015) they had finally built a shuttle train to at least one of the satellite concourses.

I'm trying all I can to not go back to the East coast until after the election. Things are looking real dystopian out in the states, especially NYC. Best of luck.
