I wasn't sure where exactly to post this but as it's related to employment K thought I would add it here.

Does anyone know how long it takes to qualify for social security benefits once you start working? Should it be immediate or is there a certain waiting period?

Asking as I will be covered for medical cover once I am eligible. I also understand child benefits may be possible for Thai children which could be an unexpected bonus.

Thanks

I don't remember having any probation period when I started working but I am sure it is different from company to company.  I work for a fairly large company, we have 5000 employee here.

You need a company rep to go with you and fill out the forms for the insurance. The cost is split between you and the company - 750 baht a month each. They mail you your card.
