Justice minister Somsak Thepsuthin and the chief of the Department of Special Investigations held a press conference to announce huge seizures from the "Chaba" drug gang.

Following investigations into the laundering activities of a woman called Chaba over the last three months five places in Chonburi, Samut Sakhon, Samut Prakan and Bangkok (2) were investigated.

Thirty one million baht in gold bullion was seized along with 2 million in amulets and jewelry and 1.2 million in Thai and foreign currency.

Fifty million baht was in bank accounts.

Eighty five houses and land worth 340 million were seized.

The 500 million baht total was also made up of 97 vehicles - many luxury cars - and 800,000 baht in designer handbags.

Sanook reported that in the last year the DSI had seized 2 billion baht in assets from drugs' gangs.

Something that is always a giveaway is the way these drug dealers flaunt their wealth with exotic cars and huge houses.

Well done the police and the investigators. Now all that needs to happen is for the next big dealer to take over Chaba's territory and clients.

The drug business in this country is so huge mere numbers can not even begin to describe how many people and billions are involved in this illicit trade, all the down from the top to the lowly psoi pusher...

The amount siezed would have been more but some seems to have gone missing...........

Reminds me of a few years ago back home.  New character suddenly shows up in the neighbourhood.  Who's that I ask a neighbour, oh he's their son, just out of jail for dealing in heroin.  A week later a bright red corvette parked daily in their driveway (and this is a very major road lol!).  Two weeks later the guy and his car gone?  Oh hes back in jail for dealing in heroin again! hahaha!  So yeah, you are so correct ratcatcher.

It really makes you wonder how much they don't catch!

Money to feed the poor and unemployed. Or for some new watches ?

I see that Covid hasn't created a recession in the illegal drug industry.

90%+

So I have a question, what happens with all these assets which are seized?
