Eight injured people - two seriously - were taken to hospital after a 10 meter stretch of a one meter wide walkway alongside the Nong Ngu Hao canal in Bang Sao Thong, Bang Plee collapsed yesterday.

Most of the worst injured were in a boat moored under the walkway.

Siam Rath reported that the remains of five boats were submerged in the water with locals and police on the scene conducting rescue and salvage operations.

Victims were ferried to hospital along the canal.
