BANGKOK(NNT) - Thailand and the United States today celebrate the 40th anniversary of disease control cooperation between the Ministry of Public Health and the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which has helped create field epidemiologists who have been working to effectively curb the spread of COVID-19.

A meeting was held today on the theme "2 Nations 2 gether 4 Health" to celebrate the Ministry of Public Health and the U.S. CDC’s 40th anniversary of cooperation. Success stories of disease control projects supported by the U.S. were showcased in the event, along with panel discussions by academics and experts.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health, Anutin Charnvirakul said the long-standing cooperation between Thailand and the U.S. has contributed greatly to public health security in Thailand, particularly the Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP).

He said these projects have helped create medical and veterinarian teams who are well capable for disease control operations in all respects, and who have been working to control the spread of COVID-19. Both countries will further enhance their academic cooperation and personnel exchanges to further promote the health and security of the people.

On this occasion, Mr Anutin and the U.S. Ambassador to Thailand Michael George DeSombre, awarded a prize to the winner of the 40th anniversary celebration logo competition, and announced awards in the the Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP)

An exhibition also told the story of Thailand - U.S. cooperation in the control of COVID-19, HIV/AIDS, Influenza, newly emerging diseases, and non-communicable diseases.

What a cluster, useless, awarding each other and everyone in sight awards, pathetic

The US medicos are talking to Taiwan.  The Thais should too.  At the very least, they could use that as leverage to get discount on submarines.

Clearly US is such a fine example of public health. Well run and extremely cost effective ..... 555

Great country to learn from in regards to public health .....

Taking public health advice and cooperation from Dirty Farangs? Who would have thought this was possible.  Hope the Thai delegates whilst visiting the US have the appropriate "useless" health insurance required by Immigration.  ????
