International Buddhist Conference this year will celebrate 80th birthday of HM the King

Phra Dharmakosajarn, the Rector of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, says this year’s International Buddhist Conference will celebrate His Majesty the King’s 80th birthday.

This year, Visakha Puja Day falls on May 31st, and Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University will organize an international event to celebrate this religious occasion between May 26th and 31st at Phutthamonthon Conference Hall in Phutthamonthon district of Nakhon Pathom province and at the United Nations Conference Center in Bangkok.

Phra Dharmakosajarn says many activities will be held under the theme “The Governance and Development of Buddhism”. He says a number of discussions under this theme will be held, and some of them include the application of technology to help promote Buddhism and the ways to help preserve Buddhist practices.

At the conference, the university will also introduce His Majesty the King’s royal initiations to the participants such as the Sufficiency Economy philosophy. In addition, participants will join the ceremony to celebrate the 80th birthday of His Majesty the King.
