Staying In Thailand For A Year

Featured Replies

Puh, I was going to bed when I stumbled on here, now it's 05.40AM :o

My plan was to go to Thailand and stay there for at least 10 months, I hadn't thought too much about the visa issue and had heard you could "just" re-enter and it would be ok. I've been reading a lot of threads but I still haven't really grasped the mechanics of staying longer then 90 days, if it's even possible?

If someone could give me some basic outline of how it works or point me to a thread that explains it I would be very grateful, thank you :D

Unless you are over 50 years old, or married to a Thai, or working in Thailand with a work permit I see no possibility for you to even begin to qualify for a 10-month continuous stay. 90 days at a time is the best available for you. You could try to get a multiple-entry non-immigrant visa or a tourist visa valid for three entries from a Thai consulate in your home country.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

as i did if your in the uk hull consult is good go to there web site and down load the 1 year O multi entry visa form and fill it in very easy ,, got my visa within 2 days when you have the visa and land here you will get a 90 day stamp in your passport on the 89th day catch a coach to cambodia theres loads of travel agents over here who will book it for you, exit thailand and enter cambodia go have some grub then an hour or so later cross back over into thailand and get another 90 day stamp ps its about 2000 baht for the coach trip and the multi visa is about 95 pounds but might be easier ways to do it, im sure peeps on here will help

They certainly arent making things easy for us. :/

Btw..ive recently read that agents can get your Tourist Visa renewed without you having to leave Thailand. I have a couple of questions (seems relevant enough to tag them onto this thread...hope thats ok tagg (no pun intended :o)) Is this really 100% illegal? If so, I am in Chiang Mai..does anyone know of a good agent?

Btw..best of luck tagg...sorry i am unable to give any useful advice. =[

DO NOT DO THIS even if it is still offered.

Three years ago , in Phuket , there were agents arrested who had drawers full of

farang passports. At the same time Ranong immigration were studying passport

stamps with a magnifying glass and I saw a few guys refused exit stamps and

told to take their problem elsewhere.

Can't believe it is still going on.

From what i have been told its highly illegal and can get you in deep doo doo

Trip next month to Penang it is then! Tnx

Sorry tagg we are just not welcome in thailand.

we are welcomed but are only liked for our dollars, never forget that.

Trip next month to Penang it is then! Tnx

Good choice!!! :o

Thanks for taking your time to explain!

I went to the Swedish Thai Embassy homepage and "the best" I could find was a double entry 60 day visa, http://www.thaiembassy.se/consular/visa.php#tourist

It said though " The extension of further 30 days may be granted by Immigration Bureau, Thailand. The application fee is 1900 baht. ".

Does that mean that I can get the Double entry visa, go to Thailand, extend it to 90 days and then before my 90 days are over I re-enter and do the same thing again?

Since it's only a double-entry I assume that after doing it twice I have to get a new visa, can I do that in Thailand?

Thanks for helping me out :o

Yes with extensions you would get a total of 180 days.

When your Visa is finished you would have to go to a consulate outside of Thaiand and get another Visa which would probably be only a single entry giving you 60 days that can be extended to 90 days.

Ok, is it possible to repeat this aswell once those 90 days are over? Just keep going in and out with single entry visas?
