Hi,
Here is my dilemma.
I am now the proud owner of a new passport (British), went to Chaeng Wattana (Bangkok resident) to get my retirement extension transferred, request denied.

Since my last extension was issued in Chonburi the transfer needs to be done there, as does my 90 day report (because of the new passport was cited).
Due to the amnesty I skipped my June 6th submission. I am currently awaiting a response from my mail application but from what I have read, it will be denied.

My problem is that I cannot make to Chonburi until the 16th October for my next extension (I use an agent).
Will I be penalised? I have read also that the passport will be stamped stating I've been a naughty boy? So much for the amnesty!

Would greatly appreciate any advise/comments.

Thanks in advance.

Your quite right. Unfortunately he has closed up shop.

I am switching to a Bangkok based agent offering a superior service who will take care of the extension transfer and the new extension in Pattaya.

He seems uncertain as to the 90 day report.

I have specific reasons for not being able to make it which is not open to discussion.

As for the 90 day report, half the farang population is confused.

Why Chaeng Wattana declined after years of acceptance is a mystery.

You would be late for doing the report if you do in October if they do not extend the amnesty. What address has been used for your previous 90 day reports? If you and a Jomtien address to use on the the return envelope you could do the report by mail to Jomtien immigration.

The stamp transfer can wait till October.

Thank you for your response.

I have always used my Bangkok address for all my 90 day reports.

Not sure if Chonburi would accept that?

I have no other address.

They must not of looked at your extension stamp before or not closely anyway since it was done in Chonburi.

The are being strict at the MTT immigration office in Bangkok if you missed a report. I would guess that is why they noticed your extension stamp.

Maybe your new agent can workout thing with Chonburi immigration about your 90 day reporting.

Many thanks again for your comment,  invaluable as always.

I will do as you advised.

I am trying to comply with the law. I simply do not understand why they throw up so many hurdles.

As a long term resident I would ask why skip the 90 day report & create a problem for yourself, I understand the amnesty but that wasn't really for the benefit of you, that was more for the aide of tourists stuck here when the borders closed.

Sometimes hurdles are created by oneself.

I am here retired with a visa, I did all my 90 day reports online during the amnesty... never a problem.

Renewed my visa in July.

The amnesty is for tourist stranded in Thailand without the ability to return to their country because of the closure.

Any expat who lives in Thailand should not depend on the amnesty. It is not for him. He should act as required by his specific visa because he can go to immigration and handle it. Otherwise he will be overstaying.

When the ministerial notice was first issued it was in early April and was backdated to March 26th. At that time things were much different then and many people were in lock down and/or were advised not leave home unless they had to.

That is very valid reason not to the 90 day report.

"I simply do not understand why they throw up so many hurdles."

You are supposed to do the 90 days reports, extensions and the transfer of stamps to the new passport at the immigration office where you are registered (= where you officially belong).

Why do you say immigration throws up so many hurdles?

I am more than confused. I could not even imagine making things more complicated even if that was your goal.

I could have sworn i read officially 90 day reports are no longer required. Some say yay, some nay. Which is it?
