Police bust gang of con-artists

A group of con-artists, including a Thai woman, were arrested on Monday (August 31) for allegedly running an illegal medical equipment company and defrauding a German man of Bt57 million.

Cameroon national Ferdinand Ayuk Agbor, 34; Ivory Coast national Souhadou Traore, 35; and Thai national Thanwarot Worasan, 24, were charged with fraud and money laundering.

They had allegedly sold rubber gloves to a German buyer in the United Arab Emirates, who had paid them Bt57 million but did not receive the products.

Thanwarot was found to have connections with Mepony Toure, 28, who allegedly runs an illegal firm from another country and is wanted by the Interpol.

Thai police are looking to see if this group is linked to a similar case in which the victim was an Israeli national.

I am still laughing at how all of a sudden every man and his dog was a glove and mask dealer/agent with "special allocations" when all the glove manufacturers we warning about all these scams right on the front page of their websites. I know dozens of people that got burned and i would always ask the same question. Why would anyone go through you when they can just contact the factories direct.

What business sends you product without you paying for it?

What a racist <deleted> you are Richard, and you are from...? Wherever your from, we should probably ask the question “are there any honest (insert your country here) And should all (insert your country here) be deported because Richard is a complete racist A$$?

there are plenty of honest Africans living in Thailand, just that as they are law abiding, you don’t hear anything about them. Just as anyone and people from any country, the bad ones cause the good ones to be all tarred with the same brush.

Name three!!

I think Richard's point is that they do seem to have a very prominent position in the online scams that are reported and, of course, Nigeria is the home of the renowned 419 scam.

You can go ahead and call me racist, which would be stupid as I have worked and lived over 25 years across Africa (so, at least I know what I am talking about), but when you think about it, I am just a realist and call a spade a spade.

ps  Was the "tarred" reference a racist jibe?!!

Shame on you!

He should have used Letter of credit, where the buyers bank

guarantee's the seller, that he will get paid when goods are

delivered, must have been very new to business if he did not

know that.

he's not racist ...  he's speaking what he sees as the truth as does many others. Did he hurt your feelings?

That's the problem with the world today, you can't say anything because of the do-gooders call it racist.

I wouldn't trust a NIGERIAN as far as I could kick him ... am I being racist ?   hell no !  i'm being careful and honest. I wouldn't trust many Thai's for that matter ...  lol

Yup, you’re definitely being racist.

How would you know if West Africans are involved in this scam?

These scammers are international gangs.

That's probably why the "Nigeria connection" disguises under different nationals, and even use the name of well-known international banks.

Are there actually any honest Africans in Thailand ? Never a day seemed to go buy without an African con artists story on TV.

Maybe they should start asking all Africans from such countries to post a 1 million baht deposit first when applying for a visa.

You poor, insecure little man...
