Zebadee45 Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Hi All I have a Non Imigrant Type O Multi entry which i got by virture of marriage, i applied for the visa in the Thai Embassy in U.A.E. whee i was working at the time, since then my wife has returned to Thailand and i will follow in the very near future as i wish to work there. From reading this forum i understand i would be able to get a work permit with this type of visa but my visa has 'Emplyment Prohibited' typed on it. Could enyone tell me if this would affect me getting a work permit, or if there are any other limitations which might come into force. Thanks in advance
Crossy Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Should be no problem, these 'xxx prohibited' stamps appear from time to time on visas, usually ignored by the Thai end of things unless they want to boot you out. My non-o said 'no extension of stay' got my extension with zero problems
JCCR6 Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I wasn't able to get a work permit on my non-O... even though a well known lawyer said it would be ok...
El Taco Loco Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I have had a non O for 4 years and received WP with no problems. Non Os are allowed to work. The lawyer does not know the law. Unless the company was a bit dodgy, there should have been no reason for your WP to be rejected.
Zebadee45 Posted April 27, 2007 Author Posted April 27, 2007 Thanks Guys for your information, I feel a bit more at ease, but i guess its the usual ... who you get on the day senario. Will keep you posted
