Was up there on monday and thought I should share some info, some new stuff for those who haven't been there recently.

Now $10 for 14-visa, no more 250THB for dayvisit, and no need for pictures, as they take your photo and print it in a rather nice little "minipassport", compared to the old purple book you got. No check for airtickets, I asked the officer if it was needed, and all he said: "no need if less than 90 days" ... goodie!

So you are staying in Myanmar for 14 days?

Last month when i went there there was a guy behind me in line who asked for a 14 day stay.

I was wondering what you can do such a long time in tachilek and surroundings,I do not have any travelling experience further then tachilek, maybe you could make me understand .....

I understand the need for taking pictures, I'm guessing one of the reason is keep track of criminals - the thing is that the picture they took of me is possibly the most dodgy picture ever taken of me!

I ain't staying there for 14 days, what I meant was that the visa they now issue is valid up to 14 days if you wish :o but no travel beyond tachilek province though...but I could easily spend a few days there at regina or mekong playing some baccarat :-))

Anyone ever stayed at Regina or Mekong? Is it expensive?

1-1500 a night, bring 100k thb and you'll get a free room. mekong got a new owner last year, might be wort a try before regina.
