Thai exports to fall 10% this year, import slump a worry - shippers

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's exports could fall by 10% this year due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic and a persistently strong baht, a Thai shipping association said on Tuesday, warning that a slump in imports was also a worry.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand approved plans to create a quarter of a million jobs and will look to restructure its economy to be less reliant on global demand, its prime minister said on Tuesday, the latest measures to mitigate the fallout of the coronavirus pandemic.

A motion, seconded by 99 opposition and government MPs, was today submitted to House Speaker Chuan Leekpai to seek amendment of Section 272 of Thailand’s Constitution, with the aim of excluding senators from the election of the Prime Minister.

Pheu Thai Party to propose broader amendments to Thailand’s Constitution

The opposition Pheu Thai Party has decided to propose four motions, seeking broader amendments of the Constitution, including Section 272, to exclude senators from process of electing the Prime Minister, and Section 270, to revoke the powers of the Senate regarding national reforms.

Covid forces half a million to quit national pension fund
