Popular Post Guderian
A few weeks ago, when they were touting the "Phuket Model", they claimed that foreign tourists were already queuing up to buy places in the September tourist stampede. All those poor folk must be pretty cheesed off at the delay until November or December, you might think it would cause them to say something unpleasant about TAT and the tourism ministry and look elsewhere for their winter dose of vitamin D. But apparently not, if you believe TAT (hah!) they're still queuing and champing at the bit for the off on the latest plans. <rolleyes> 1

Did you worry about infecting them with a cold, or flu, or pneumonia before March 2020? My guess is no. What's different other than governments world-wide rolling out "experts" to tell you that Covid may not kill you but granny and gramps are sure to die if you don't social distance and wear a mask 24/7, all the while allow Big Tech giant unregulated permission to censor any other "experts" who don't support the WHO/CDC "Covid is going to get you all" narrative. By the way. Before anyone climbs on board to call me a heartless monster who wants to kill granny and grandpa - I am Grandpa! Free society is being torn down and replaced with literal totalitarianism, and economies and the economic lives of billions are being destroyed for what is no worse that a seasonal flu. And folk just obey their "leaders" and go along with the trip into the abyss. 12 1

IMO Cannot speak for others but my wife & I are not afraid of the virus at all....We know 99.999% it would not be a problem for us as we are in great health That said regarding the current requirement to travel to our Thai home.... we are not willing to jump thru so many hoops & conditions. Then should we be infected due to the crazy system they now have in place we will be at "Their" mercy & stuck in a hospital & our insurance charged what ever they deem fair? To be released when they deem releasable? For us the juice is just not worth the squeeze. We lived many years in Thailand & now just stay 3 months a year at our Thai home. We are not worried & know it will be there in a year or two when this all blows over. But it is Thailand in our humble opinion that may have to worry about what to do with their economy due to the lack of other more normal visitors 5

Rethink and come up with a new plan which dose not have quarantine . you are welcome to contact us dirty Falangs for ideas and suggestions. By the way looks like the christmas's and newer high season will not be a high season. Congratulations. Almost one year of lockdown with no vaccine in sight. Obviously when a country officially announces a reopening, airlines will start queuing up. I guarantee there will be enough wanting to go even with the restrictions. It will be a good test run before reopening to broader tourism.

However, a vaccine, however ineffective, might provide political cover for muddle-headed governments everywhere to open up tourism.

SbuxPlease
Lot of people here just ripping on this idea as insufficient, but... the country has to start somewhere. They might as well start giving ideas a try and learn something along the way. An alternative plan that doesn't require any quarantine would mean the health infrastructure for the rest of the country would have to be vastly improved to accept, deal with, and isolate the inevitable new cases that would start to show up. Thailand's tourism industry is a multi billion dollar cash cow, I hope they are putting "top minds" on the project, but this is the kind of thing where even a very small amount of infections creeping in - if not perfectly handled (which I think we can agree has a high probability) - could serve to wreck the other 85% of the economy along with it. I'm not sure anyone in the world has the right answer, but I do commend efforts to do something now. 1

Popular Post spidermike007
Only those few, who are sitting on fortunes of hundreds of millions, or billions of baht, could be this impervious to the fortunes of the masses, millions of whom are utterly crushed by the lack of international tourism. How callous. How indifferent. How paranoid, cowardly, timid, and mind numbingly uncreative. 8

Just stock up enough prawns at your buffet lines. Leave the dirty and pesky foreigners out of your grand plans. Most cases of c19 are returning Thais tested in quarantine, same as NZ there was 17 positive cases off one flight of NZ'ers returning from india, found/ tested days later in quarantine this week' If a country opens its doors the virus will flood in, all the evidence and scientists agree, you will not keep it out, if you open the doors. The only way most people hope that this can happen is when a vaccine is approved and released. Economic experts are trying to predict how long each airline can last. Thai and American Airlines did not make the list, they were mentioned as sitting beside each other at the bottom of the scrap heap, waiting for a miracle. As for stupid plans, if you read and search the entry conditions for each country in the world , most are locked down, China is just as stringent as Thailand. NZ and Australia are locked most countries are locked at present, except in europe where the young can travel from the UK to Spain, have a drink up then return to England and spread the virus around, this was the case last week, the virus is rampant now all over the world, India now leading the infection rate. The death rates and hospitalisations have gone right down, so---- who will win? the vaccine will arrive or the virus will dye over the next 6 months, better treatments are now being used, maybe it will become a virus no worse than the flue in the months to come. In the meantime those of you who can stay in LOS, -- enjoy the clean beaches and hospitality. I won't be coming back until the airlines start up which may be anytime between 6/12 months-- or who knows maybe longer , I hope 6/12 months. So enjoy you guys. 2
