Hi, myself and my family recently moved to Bangkok and my wife’s work place have told us we need to get our marriage certificate legalised by the British Embassy in Bangkok. After speaking to them they say we need to get it legalised by the Thailand Embassy in London. It goes back and forth. Has anyone been through this before and have accurate information please?

Some background to avoid confusion... I’m British and so is my wife. She’s working and I’m not. Our marriage certificate was notarised in the UK and certified by the FCO a while back. I believe I’m applying for a non immigrant O visa as the one I entered the country on will expire in a couple of months.

many thanks ????

Have a look here, the process is described in a number of the posts.

It seems you may of gotten the first step done but you are lacking the Thai embassy in London part of it.

Thanks for the link. I’ve seen this and the info conflicts with what my wife’s work place is suggesting. They believe it can all be done at the British Embassy in Bangkok and have even supplied a sample of the stamp and seal. I’ve also checked the Thai Embassy website and they only do distance legalisation under exceptional circumstances. I’ll try and find an email address for them to see what can be done. I certainly don’t want to travel back to London!
