Funny, never see reports of a Toyota Vios catching fire, or costing the same in maintenance and repairs as a Benz. Perhaps the build quality is better.

in my and the mercedes benz home country,  civil servants are rarely seen to be driving a mercedes benz.

It is not only , the prize of the new car. old ones are not even much cheaper cause the repair bills. Mercedes Benz parts are expensive. besides: do you know the salaries of civil servants in my country and the ones in Thailand. You will find the answer with use of your keyboard.

Corruption is a way of life in Thai civil service. We all know that. 

 

However, what is also true is that the corruption is so pervasive that it's also very common that people have family wealth for which much was gained through corruption. Don't think anyone will deny that. 

 

Finally, hiring into these civil service jobs in Thailand is also rife with corruption. 

 

A society where corruption is the rule, not the exception.
