A former army conscript on his first day of employment at a scrap metal dealer, made an astonishing discovery.

Among a pile of old metal Jinnawat found a rocket propelled grenade (RPG) that was still live.

Nang Rong, Buriram, police in the north east of Thailand soon had the area cordoned off and the bomb experts (EOD) were called to take care of the device.

Jinnawat said he was stationed in Lopburi as a conscript and left five months ago.

Scrap yard owner Janjira, 31, said this was the first time that such a thing had been found there and everyone was shocked they had been working near such a device that had it exploded would have clearly been extremely dangerous.

She said she would be more careful in future about the scrap she accepts.

If you fit that in an RPG, you must be a Thai Rambo! That is a mortar shell, M49A2 HE shell shot from an M2 60mm ww2 Mortar.

That's impressive.

It's a pity you weren't in Buri Ram this morning. You could have sorted it out in no time.
