The Meteorological Department has set up a command centre to monitor tropical storm Noul this weekend, Somsak Khaosuwan, department director-general, said on Friday.

Department directors at the command centre on the 11th floor of the 50th Anniversary Building in Bangkok had held a video conference with Meteorological Centres nationwide to monitor the storm situation, he added.

The storm crossed into northeastern Mukdahan province on Friday afternoon and is forecast to bring heavy rain across most of the country this weekend. The Meteorological Department has advised all boats to stay ashore for the next three days.

“People living in at-risk areas should be on alert for heavy rain, flash flooding and strong winds. People can protect themselves from strong winds by not going outdoors and not sheltering under big trees or damaged buildings," Somsak said.

The public could get updates on the storm at the Meteorological Department's website, or by calling the weather forecast hotline on 1182, he added.

We’re getting strong squalls in Surin Beach Phuket as of yesterday. Usual tree detritus everywhere.

Do they know something we don't ?

It was supposed to go right over Khon Kaen. Only felt a tiny little breeze.

Southern end of Phetchabun. Couldn't sleep last night due to the deluge coming down. So heavy couldn't even hear the air-con. 6am went outside and the garden was under about 8" of water, first time in about 6 years we've had this and according the meteorologist dept of Thailand its just the beginning !

Overcast sky a breath of wind and a fine sprinkling of rain here in Pattaya dark side. Temperature very moderate.

Here in chiang rai today ( Saturday) we not see any rain yet !!!

Small cells of intensive rain coming and going here.

After a break of two hours I thought it's over, but no.

At the moment I would not like to be outside.

That's what the radar says. North clear.

Isan scattered. Overall only moderate to medium intensity.

Yes and no.  You probably know too.  I'll translate this announcement:
"Don't go to protests during tropical depression Noul.  You may get Covid or struck by lightening or a tree may fall on you.  Stay safe indoors.  Don't go outside to protest."

Probably closer to it imho.

Yes, I am deadly scared of the 2m/s breeze and drizzle here in Pattaya, I shall stay quivering in the corner.

How are the protests going?

Exactly! West of Udon we have had about 37 mm, plenty of rainfall but there's no "volume" hasn't even filled the pool, never mind reservoir that is 100m, away!
