Angry jilted wife gets 10 years

BRISBANE: -- A Thai woman was jailed for 10 years today after attempting to run down her Australian ex-husband and his baby son from a new relationship.

Christopher Evans ran across paddocks and hid behind parked cars to try to escape his then estranged wife Phirajit Evans who was chasing him in her four-wheel-drive vehicle.

Phirajit Evans, 42, a Thai national, was found guilty by a Supreme Court jury in Brisbane in April of two counts of attempted murder on October 2, 2002.

Justice John Byrne today sentenced Evans to 10 years jail, declaring her a serious violent offender, meaning she must serve eight years before she is eligible for parole.

Evans drove to her husband's house at 7am that day after abusing him over the telephone for not paying her tax bill.

Mr Evans, who separated from his wife in February 2000, was taking his 16-month-old son from a new relationship out in his pram for a walk.

The court was told Phirajit Evans chased him down the street in her car and onto vacant land, knocking Mr Evans into the air and crushing the pram.

Mr Evans grabbed the baby, who was still strapped in the pram safety capsule, and ran to a parked car for protection.

But she rammed it - missing them by centimetres - and then drove off.

Mr Evans and his son escaped with minor injuries.

Outside court, Mr Evans welcomed the sentence, saying nothing could stop his ex-wife's vendetta against him.

"She got what she deserved," he said.

"It's a miracle, we both could have been killed."

The two were married in Australia after meeting in Thailand in 1996, but separated in February 2000 and have since divorced.

Justice Byrne said Evans was probably enraged by jealousy over her estranged husband's new relationship and resented his refusal to discuss her demands for more money.

Mr Evans had offered his wife a property settlement of either buying her a car or paying her tax bill.

He refused to give her any more money after he bought two cars for her in succession, which she sold.

A psychologist's report described the couple's marriage as an "impulsive cross-cultural mismatch".

I think they have some sort of faulty control circuit. We all know what Thai girls (most) are like when plastered. They just flip.

Its probably the same when they lose their temper big time. The circuit trips out and they fear no consiquences for their actions.

My granpa used to say, "Theres only one thing worse than a drunken man.......Thats a drunken woman." Guess he never saw a drunken Thai woman then. Rest his soul...

Just look at the electrical wiring in the houses, gives you a good clue. No earthing, but arching at the main fuse. :o

Not much of a punishment, 10 years in an aussie jail, must look like a 3star hotel with full board and roomservice to a Thai. I wonder whether they supply beauty cream free of charge as well? :D

The Women's Correctional Centre in Brisbane is somewhat upmarket compared with the Bangkok Hilton.

Surely everyone knows that Thai women have problems processing information about driving in a clear and logical manner :o

This theory actually applies to all women, but Thai girls are an extreme form.

This was detailed on a UK TV program some years ago...

Take some reasonably simple information, say about turning right in a car. For a man to ingest this data is very straightforward. The data simply goes into the brain ZOOM, ZOOM, ZOOM and is then processed in a logical manner ZIP, ZIP, ZIP!

But for a woman, the scenario is completely different:

ZOOM, ZOOM, ZOOM ... ZIP, BANG, FIZZLE .. OH <deleted>!!

For Thai women, just change it to FIZZLE ... OH <deleted>, <deleted>, <deleted>!!!!!

Well yes. Bloke comes to Thailand, marries his favourite 20 year old prossie, takes her home. For God's sake the bitch keeps getting older! Twenty five and she is out the door! Just imagine a fifty year old man being expected to have sex with a twenty five year old!! Cruel and inhuman punishment when there is a whole country of desperately poor twenty year olds with sick buffaloes.

He'd be 55 by then, but let's not offend the poor guys any more, they have been very upset before, by suggestions that it might not all be pure love on the girl's side. :o
