Heavy rain forecast for many parts of Thailand, storm 'Noul' downgraded

The category 3 tropical storm “Noul”, which made landfall in Mukdahan province on Friday afternoon, has been downgraded to a tropical depression in Khon Kaen province, the Thailand Meteorological Department said at 4am on Saturday.

 

 

The strong southwest monsoon lies across the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf, the department said, forecasting torrential rains with isolated heavy to very heavy rain in the North, the Northeast, the Central, the East and the South.

 

People in the risky areas should beware of the severe rains that may cause flash floods and water runoffs, as well as keep off outdoor places, large trees and unsecured buildings, the department said.

 

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is as follows:

 

North: Cloudy with heavy to very heavy rain and strong winds; minimum temperature 24-26 degrees Celsius, maximum 30-33°C .

 

Northeast: Cloudy with heavy to very heavy rain and strong winds; minimum temperature 22-24°C, maximum 25-29°C.

 

Central: Cloudy with thundershowers in 80 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rain; minimum temperature 23-25°C, maximum 31-33°C.

 

East: Cloudy with thundershowers in 80 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy to very heavy rain; minimum temperature 22-26°C, maximum 29-32°C; waves 2-4 metres high and over four metres during thundershowers.

South (east coast): Cloudy with thundershowers in 70 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rain; minimum temperature 23-25°C, maximum 30-33°C; waves two metres high and over four metres during thundershowers.

 

South (west coast): Cloudy with thundershowers in 80 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rain; minimum temperature 23-24°C, maximum 28-32°C; waves 2-4 metres high and over four metres during thundershowers.

 

Bangkok and surrounding areas: Cloudy with thundershowers in 80 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rain; minimum temperature 25-26°C, maximum 30-32°C.

Been raining Pong Nam Ron, Chantaburi 30 hours solid, mostly light, becoming heavy more frequently as at 11am

It's been raining in Phitsanulok since Friday evening. Mostly light to medium rain.

Storm had everything, apart from the heavy rain we need! It's cool, its moderately breezy with scattered light rain, - West of Udon, be lucky if we have had 1 mm of rain ???? So far made zero difference to local reservoirs! 

Here just north of the city of Chiang Rai no rain but at least there is a nice breeze and it is very comfortable.  I even briefly saw some patches of blue sky.

"NOUL POINT"

I live about 50km south of Khon Kaen, it was severely flooded in August last year for the first time in 50 years.     The water came in from two directions and rose to 5 metres above a small river, 3 metres up trees.  The water rose rapidly up to 3 metres in my friends house.  The
Since that time when soil composition and plant life changed water flow has changed too.

Yesterday rains started and have been virtually non stop since.

Fields are flooded and a large natural rain filled pond is getting higher very quickly.

The road in to the village outside of town is already flooded from one direction, one other road in is getting standing water, the third road is at the moment passable.

Two dogs which I rescued last year - a smaller 10kg one in a cement mixing bath the other 20kg I had to carry ( water shoulder high and with a strong under current ) - are getting very uneasy today, both keep trying to take me away from the area when out for walks between rain, today one showed me a small wooden shelter in a local park where you can sit off the ground.
A friend has their boat ready and important things moved, but if it is like last year when they lost everything, then their only cargo will be themselves.

Well at least in a few areas some reservoirs got some rain. Too bad so much

just floods  but the big water areas do not get the needed rain.  Maybe another

storm is needed.

Just stopped briefly here after 54 or so hours, driveway in is flooded have to go out the long way, more about. Farm dams mostly full.
