Heavy storms batter Cambodia’s coastal regions, killing five

Featured Replies

Heavy storms continue to cause devastation to the Kingdom’s coastal provinces, with resulting floods claiming at least five lives and dealing extensive damage in the region. Preah Sihanouk Provincial Hall spokesman Kheang Phearum said that the most serious flooding has been seen in Prey Nop, Stung Hav and Sihanoukville.

Phearum said among the three districts, Prey Nop had been hit hardest by the storms so far. According to a Provincial Administration report, 11 out of the 14 communes in Prey Nop had been hit by severe flooding.

It said that floods had damaged 1,955 houses, a total of 7,170 metres of road and affected at least 7,954 people. Phearum said the situation in Stung Hav district and Sihanoukville were manageable, but while scattered storms continue to strike, flooding remains a risk.

Another recovery day in Paradise.  RIP to those who died.  I hope that places that

needed the rain  have  received enough to help fill their dams and reservoirs.
