Military service and conscription.

Featured Replies

Can anyone caste any light on what's happening with the Army conscription this year.

My ladies son went in November to phetchabun.

Was sent home in May.

Suppose to be related to the coronavirus.

Was going back in June.

He is still home.

Well in the village.

No army pay and it looks like he isn't going back.

I find it hard to get an answer from my lady.

Up to him. He is 21 now.

I think there's more to it.

But it's hard to get an answer.

My experience with ALL difficult THAI issues: Don't interfere, don't ask questions, cleate ploblem.

Maybe AWOL

They had there main pick up of new and existing recruits. The 1st Sept. This is for Khon Kaen and Korat Chiayaphum Provinces several buses. The person I know has a Degree and maybe volunteered and choose Sattahip Naval base. After two weeks he was given free time to call family and friends. He said three are 250 guys to one room barracks and 30 secs to shower with muddy water. All given a shot so they don't get randy. He has called this last Sunday said there is nothing to do. They are being sent to their chosen base next week or this week. apparently free to go home on the 30th of this month. For how long I don't know but He said at least 10 days. Maybe there is no money to feed and take care of this years recruits.  Go and check at your local district office.

Given a shot of what? Tranquilizer?

Just seems odd.

All the stuffing around to get his education finished.

The trips from Pattaya to Phetchabun.

His birth town.

Then since June he is farting around doing nothing in the village.

Sent home indefinitely.

No salary. (6000 mth)

NO id card. They retain his I'd. Possibly for 20 years if he is indeed AWOL.

We asked his wife about it.

She said he isn't going back.

He is working locally cash in hand..

I said to my lady yesterday.

I'm only concerned for the child they have, and not having money for food.

(Not coming from me...)

UK or Australia and you would have the military police at the door.
