The Public Health Ministry has delivered more than 20,000 medical sets to 11 provinces that were hit by flash floods on Sunday (September 20) in a bid to protect people.

Dr Sukhum Kanchanapimai, the ministry’s permanent secretary, said after tropical storm Noul brought flash floods to many areas, the ministry delivered basic medicines to the provinces of Ubon Ratchathani, Songkhla, Nakhon Phanom, Tak, Prachin Buri, Nakhon Pathom, Mukdahan, Narathiwat, Chachoengsao, Roi Et and Bueng Kan.

Sukhum also called on local public health officials to attend to patients with chronic disease, children and pregnant women and advise them on how to protect themselves from conditions such as flu, diarrhoea, leptospirosis and dengue fever.

“Five hospitals, 11 subdistrict health promoting hospitals and two district public health offices in the affected provinces are open again for service,” he said.

“We want to ask people to keep warm, and if they have a fever, cough, sore throat and runny nose, they should wear facemasks to prevent transmission and see a doctor at the medical centre as soon as possible,” he added.
