Transport Motorcycle Taxi Rider Refuses Saucy Proposition for Fare Payment
File photo for reference only In a bizarre twist of events in Udon Thani, a motorcycle taxi rider was offered sex in lieu of a 40-baht fare by a 23-year-old female passenger. The unexpected proposition took place at a rental room in Soi Kamnan, leaving the rider no choice but to call the police for assistance. The situation unfolded at 7.30pm on June 26 when the woman, claiming to have no money, invited the rider into her room to settle the fare. However, before the police could arrive, a 29-year-old man inside the room stepped out and settled the 40 baht (£0.90) fare via mobile banking, providing some clarity to the heated exchange. Upon investigation, police learnt the man didn’t personally know the woman but had seen her frequent the premises, often requesting to reach motorcycle taxi riders. Showing sympathy, he decided to pay the fare but expressed concerns as his pregnant wife was away in Nong Khai province. He allowed her entry into his room but worried her conduct might lead to trouble. The woman insisted she merely sought companionship to alleviate her loneliness and denied involvement with drugs. Police later accompanied her to her accommodation to meet her 72-year-old grandmother, who revealed a history of drug-related psychiatric issues. The grandmother, aware of her granddaughter’s night-time escapades and unpaid taxi rides, pleaded with police for assistance in getting her treatment. Due to the non-severe nature of her condition, officers advised the family to seek medical help during hospital hours. Adapted by ASEAN Now from Bangkok Post 2025-06-28 -
