Survey - People believe political conflicts can be resolved

 

   

BANGKOK (NNT) - With many people still coping with the adverse effects of COVID-19, the country also has to put up with political conflicts. A recent public survey, by the Suan Dusit Rajabhat University, or Suan Dusit Poll, reveals that most respondents see that this is the time for people to help find solutions to the problems and that they can be resolved, if there is sincerity.

 

The survey questioned 1,263 people from September 23 to 25, 2020, with 91.87 percent of all the respondents agreeing that the country should help brainstorm ideas to resolve the conflicts in the country.

 

Asked to suggest solutions, most respondents wanted the government to be truly open to all opinions. As for other solutions, there should be no violence or double standards. Forums should be organized nationwide to gather opinions, and different sides should take a step back.

 

The respondents suggested that prominent figures of various groups should take the leading role in finding solutions, followed by the prime minister, the general public, the government, school and university students and young people.

 

In addition, 75.12 percent believed that efforts to resolve national problems will be successful this time.

 

Results of this public survey show that most people still believe the ongoing conflicts can be worked out, if there is sincerity and all groups receive equal treatment. In order to reach mutual solutions, representatives of various groups should brainstorm together today.

Another pointless survey with hardly any significance. You could do this survey in a government building with the people in it. And with the brainstorm comment it probably was.

Think it will take a lot more than 'sincerity' & 'equality'.

 

I do wish, however, that the percentages were expressed to at least 3 decimal places. Makes it more even more scientific looking.

But, then people are blind to the real problem. The fact, that there is no sincerity if the pockets aren´t filled.

Ask anyone on the street and they'll tell you the government has no intention of working anything out with anyone.

Not all political views can be resolved. That's the nature of democracy. How does one resolve belief in a fascism with belief in democracy, communism or absolute monarchy? It's only by advancing one political system by a majority of the populous over other systems for permanency. Such advancement will require conflict even with a peaceful debate for conversion.

But Thai history since 1932 shows that it has been armed force by a minority that resolves political conflict. No doubt military coup leaders are sincere believers in their objectives; but political debate isn't allowed among the electorate. Not even when it comes to a referendum on a new constitution.

Absolutely true.

 

Progressive countries like China (for one) are busy demonstrating that political differences can be satisfactorily resolved....when incomplete people with ‘bad attitudes’ are incarcerated, isolated, educated, punished, and indoctrinated until they learn how to think properly and correctly.

 

It’s simply a matter of convincing everyone there are compelling reasons…to see the light.
