Hello everybody,

Until Oct 2006 one way to extend ( renew ) the above visa was to show a Bank letter indicating that 400.000B were available on the acount.

Since Oct 2006 the rule has changed but I dont understand very well if the new rule apply immediatly to the persons requesting an extension ( 1 year ) of their visa or not ? On the document ( 606/2549 7-17) from the Immigration bureau available on their internet site it is indicated that the new rules dont apply " to the Aliens who entered the Kingdom before this order came into force and granted a permit to stay in the Kingdom"...and if the Alien doesnt have the monthly income, proof of 400.000B deposit on an account must be supplied ; what is new is that the deposit must be made at least 3 months before the extension...

Regarding this last new rule ( deposit 3 months before the extension ), the immigration office told me that this last rule will apply only next year and that until then a deposit of 400.000B is enough even if not set up at least 3 month before that the extension is requested. Is that true ?

Thank you in advance.

Up until now, for those on extension of stay and thus still able to use the 400k option there has not been any requirement that it be in bank 3 months. People are being told to have for three months next time. Although some are being told that next time they will have to use 40k.

They told me also that next time I will have to use ONLY the montly income way. But they advise me that I should request ( based on the same visa ) a retirement visa instead ( I am more than 50 years old...). Of course, I will have to deposit 800k AND that will have to be deposited at least 3 months before the extension is requested.
