Disabilities Thailand (DTH) will file a petition on Tuesday morning demanding that the government make all disabled Thai nationals in the country eligible for the Bt1,000 monthly allowance.

Some 1.22 million disabled people are eligible for a monthly allowance of Bt1,000 because their disability is identified in the national ID and their disability card.

However, 800,000 people whose disability is not identified in their identity cards stand to get Bt800 per month.

DTH said this is unfair, especially since people are suffering from the impact of the Covid-19 crisis, adding that the government should allocate more funds to support this group in society.

It's not clear if they have a 2 tiered disability payment system, or there are 800,000 who claim disability don't meet the threshold.

I'm guessing or hoping there is some sort of tiered system based on disability.

Ranging from a minor one to full disability, payments should be based on needs rather than one size fits all.

Yes all disabled people should get a monthly allowance, but the more severely disabled should get a lot more.

Monthly allowance for the severely disabled should be at least 3000 baht, as their needs/ expenses are considerably more than other peoples.

There is obviously a great deal of disparity in definition of disability or qualifying impact of.
A middle aged  man in our village who lost one eye is receiving the same amount as a young man who lost both legs in a crush accident.
