Thank you Thai Visa for scam updates

I would like to say thanks guys

My daughter informed me she was communicating on a dating app with a farang, this alone was of little concern, she informed me the guys name was Joseph from the UK.

Now this did start me thinking of the scammers frequently mentioned on Tvisa, because Joseph is a rather outdated name in the UK, but I suspected was a considered a 'safe' sounding name in some circles

I took the time to inform my daughter and wife of the scammers that befriend Thai Ladies then they are requested to make a payment to customs for a parcel/gift by a Thai lady accomplice.

A week later my daughter shows me a photo of the guy and his mother - he still does not look like a Joseph ???? but I let it run

Today my daughter receives a call from Thai lady, package from farang in customs, farang not pay, 25,000 baht to pay to release

Thankfully my family were well prepared all down to the publicity and information flow on Tvisa

So thank you all for the informative contributions that may well do somebody else a big favour in the future

Give yourselves a pat on the back

What does a Joseph look like?

WHY?

All you had to do is read the main English newspaper in this country to be forewarned about this worldwide common scam.

Yes I expected this question

Joseph was a family name in my family - here are some examples of the names people in my family went by when Christened Joseph

Joseph - Joe

Joseph - Jos

John Joseph - Jack

John Joseph - John

So anybody who goes by Joseph I would expect to look a bit like a ageing preacher or not be from the UK

Not required when it is brought to my attention when perusing other articles on Tvisa - my point being the scam was highlighted in the background but proved useful when I least expected it, for that I am grateful

Usually running around in a 'technicolour dream coat'....

On another note: Kudos to geo473 for bringing up a daughter who is able to openly communicate with him about chatting with a guy online. This in itself is the primary factor in his daughter not being scammed and ultimately remaining safe.

Using an app to communicate with a guy miles away !!! ???? TV has no app, but there are hundreds of trusted members, guaranteed no scammers. All in great shape, young in 60s or 70s ready for a fresh long term relationship.

The fabricated guy gave his age as 27 - I will refrain from comment on the 'shape' of the 'trusted members' of Tvisa ????

Wow yeah stockings, suspenders, thigh high boots, and a whip, the guy obviously would not want to give the impression she was the homely type, that liked baking and knitting ????

I wondered why you made the comment at all, then figured you just had too much time on your hands, pleased to have filled a few seconds for you, enjoy the rest of your evening

Can you tell us about the Tinder scam?

OP-Why not call the general's hotline and take a nice soldier along to meet this woman to pay for and receive the "gift"?
