Popular Post rooster59
Arrival of Chinese tourists in Phuket under STV scheme delayed to Oct 26 By THE NATION Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn A group of Chinese tourists travelling under the STV scheme will arrive at Phuket Airport on October 26 instead of October 8 as earlier scheduled, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports said. According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), another group of 120 tourists from China’s Guangzhou city, who also will be issued special tourist visa (STV), will arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport on October 20, Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn said. He explained that the delay in the arrival of visitors was because Phuket authorities wanted them to come after the Vegetarian Festival ends on October 25. This group also 120 tourists. Phiphat explained that both groups of Chinese would be subjected to alternative state quarantine for 14 days. The TAT will arrange activities for them during the quarantine period. Phiphat said that he was confident the STV tourists would not be infected, and wanted the STV tourism to proceed to the second phase, which allows STV tourists to walk in other spaces of the quarantine hotels, apart from their rooms, after the first seven days of quarantine. If infected persons were found among STV tourists, the operation will not proceed to the second phase, or even the third phase that would allow tourists to travel freely, if they are proved to be free from infection. Popular Post JusticeGB
And 120 Chinese people will finally rescue the tourism industry! Probably the real reason the first arrivals were delayed is that the magical figure of 120 people was a figment of the imagination of the Ministry of (lets make up some new stories) Tourism.

What do you do if most tourist test positive to the covid-19 virus if they have been vaccinated? How long must they stay in quarantine? Will they ever come back?

IMHO the sad point is that these folks just keep moving the known factors approaches / answers etc., around the table and achieving nothing. They need to get much more capable / innovative to create new approaches / ideas never seen before. Not easy of course but put some some new untainted kids on it, maybe they will surprise.
lensta
What happens the the people that cannot travel on October 26? Will they be refunded the money that they have already paid. I think not, they should be happy that they were even allowed to apply for an STV

If anyone in TAT is found creating shortcuts for these people, then they should be instantly dismissed. This is the first step for Thailand to open her doors again for tourism, admittedly a very small tentative step, but they really do need to get this right. IMO the shortcuts will come later when they lull themselves into a false sense of security and try to advance their processes too quickly. 2

Popular Post spidermike007
120 tourists should be enough to put 3 million people back to work. Pipat is being a coward, as usual. He is in so far over his head. And with a $155 million fortune, he barely cares. Thailand needs courageous leadership. They don't have it. The army is so timid. ANY person from ANY nation should be welcome starting tomorrow, if they are willing to subject themselves to a 14 day quarantine and pay excessive fees for that two week sentence. There is no downside or risk, and only upside for the nation. No groveling from a local consulate should be required. That is utter nonsense. A covid free letter and a booking at an approved hotel. The vegetable festival is a Chinese festival. In Bangkok it centres around Chinatown. Well worth a visit

Popular Post Siamic
There has been no Covid cases in Phuket for more than 3 months. It would be interesting to do PCR tests on 100 volunteers here and simply see how many false-positives show up.
