"there was nothing to worry about" and "there are not many of them".

- It only takes/needs one to be infectious.

- How will they travel to Phuket to buy all the businesses at rock-bottom prices? I mean to see the nice sandy beaches.

- Will they stay for 90+ days, as required, and have they paid for their 90+ days' accommodation?

It appears that the second wave may be coming in from China just as the first did. If the test is only 95% accurate, that means a possible 5 people infected but not caught out of the 120+ coming in.

And Thailand had been doing so well.

Test is 95% accurate, 120 people, means 6 people could get the wrong result ... <deleted>

I don't know but a 95% accuracy with a result within 2 hours seems to be a bit of a reach.

That would be the pessimist in me though.

Actually it's a positive step forward. Slowly opening up to selected countries and doing rapid covid tests upon arrival at the airport. My guess is in 2021 there will be lots more freeing up, allowing hassle-free entry to people from certain countries, who have been vaccinated and do a rapid covid test at the airport. It's the best we can hope for at the present time.

Certainly agree with the positive step forward.

But I still wonder about all this reliance on the vaccine. Rather, I wonder what makes this time so different regarding vaccines as according to history there has never been a successful vaccine created for any of the 5 coronavirus outbreaks that have occurred in recent history.

Hope that I'm wrong and they do produce (the fastest ever) a working (>70%) vaccine and it is not just a media driven story.

Reflecting, I can be a miserable git at times.......................

Oxford just announced a proven high accuracy Covid 19 test, result in 5 minutes.

The accuracy of a PCR test should be much higher than 95% and as far as I know getting the result in two hours is very fast indeed (so actually unlikely)

less than a week ago, TV reported that not a single person in Guangzhou had applied for the STV, and now they've got 120 of the suckers? Unless Mr. P. gave Chairman Xi a phone call and asked him for a favour, it sounds like more of TAT's pipe dreams.

Never a truer word spoken on this site. 😂🤣😂🤣😂

I sincerely hope the kingdom is ready for the stampede.

I wonder what are the odds of them actually arriving on 20th, or is this date going to be postponed too?

Smoke and mirrors, smoke and mirrors.  They will arrive but will be like the invisible man.

These will have an accuracy of 95%? that's almost the dead opposite of what I've read about them, a false positive rate of 80% is what I've read, rendering them virtually useless...

“Thai-visa further notes that the Vegetarian Festival runs until October 25th, after the scheduled arrival of the Chinese tourists at Suvarnabhumi next week. “

.....confirming the excuse for first cancellation was bs.

Can image the pressure on the Thai government to let them in and reach most of the street procession and some meals with burnt vegetables in oil.......🙄
