Lab or clinic for blood work etc

KhunAhoj

Recommended Posts

Can anyone point me in the direction of a lab or clinic that does blood work, urine testing etc where you don´t have to do the usual check blood pressure, talk to doctor and so on..? My friend is a doctor (not in Thailand) and I just need lab results reg hormones and organ function to show him.

Thank you.

many places - checking bp is normal and probably no charge... but of course, if you want a recommendation of a place convenient to you, then you might want to state where you are....

If you just want the results, a lab would be better... a clinic means it will go to the doctor...

Not sure where you go but many times all these little things are added to the bill, I refused one time (I have white coat bp issues so no point in checking at a clinic) and the staff were shocked and didn´t know what to do, whispering amongst each other and looking at me like I was crazy. In the end it was on the bill anyway.

The checking of blood pressure has nothing to do with the "nursing charge" on bills at hospital outpatient departments.  That is a fee for use of the hospital (the doctor fee goes directly to the doctor) . In Thai the word for "nurse" and "hospital" are interchangeable.  It is one of those expat myths that the reason for the charge has anything to do with whether or nto your vital signs are checked.

OP in Bangkok 2 good options:

Bria Labs (Lard Prao area, a back soi and a little hard to find -there are 2 buildings a few blocks apart and the one that draws blood is not the one showing in google maps)

https://www.brianet.com/map-and-contact/

RSU Health - on Sukhumvit at the corner of Soi 31.

https://rsuhealth.com/rsu-medical-center-en/

Although it is more than just a lab (offering complete physicals and medical consultations) I have been able to walk in and just get labs done, and they had quite an extensive list.

Both will email you the results if you like.

I guess it might just be a matter of bookkeeping as to what is or is not included... I think in some places they itemize too much... 30 baht for gloves, etc... and you end up with a long list.. I think almost everywhere I go they check BP - probably a good thing for them to know... and they all know abt white coat syndrome... just go in expecting charges - - they have to stay in business too..

There's a blood lab with a full list of tests in Saphan Kwai too, on Pradipat Road, about 10 min walk from the BTS. I've used them a few times, just walked in and request the tests. I have not used them in 2020 though, so Covid protocols might mean an appointed time now.

Thanks for that, much appreciated.

I have white coat as well I not let them take my blood pressure either but take myself at home in the morning and take a picture and show them they normally accept this reading

I also take it myself at home but never thought about bringing a photo, thanks for the tip!

Have a good weekend.

Thanks Sheryl.

Few hours ago I rang RSU.

I was inquiring re blood test for INR level.

They advised that yes they do walk in, and would need to be pre 10am.

Also can provide results via email the following day.

Asked if I wished to have consultation.

Without consultation fee is 200+600baht.

So all up 800baht for INR test.

Perhaps it's actually 600baht. (lost in translation)
