Hi there, I'm new here and recently completed the first stage of Non-O based on having a Thai Child. The process was extremely tedious and I dealt with several IOs at CW who each had different ideas of what was required, even to the point of being supplied with standard checklists that differed supplied from different IOs. Anyway, I am glad that is over.

In 2 months I will need to go back to apply for the extension of stay for 1 year, the IO didn't really give me any information on what I had to prepare for, she just kept repeating the counter number I was to apply at in a few months time. I've tried a search, but I can't seem to find any information on the next steps - what should I prepare for on my next visit? I saw another thread where a family visit and photos needed to be taken, but I already did this to obtain the non-o visa, so I guess that won't be repeated (but I probably guess wrong given my experience so far).

Thanks a lot,

ND

You will need about all of the same required documents to apply for the one year extension. That includes photos of you in and around the house with your child and one showing the house number.

May be a silly question, but can I just use the existing photos again? Will I need another letter from the bank (on the same day)?

Is there an application form on TV that I could view or is it a repeat of the TM87 I did before?

If there's an existing thread that covers this, feel free to fire me a link to it instead of responding to these questions.

Thanks for your help, much appreciated ????

Don't forget the MOST IMPORTANT rule when dealing with Thai officials.

Extract from the website of Thai Immigration:

"Every officer has the right to ask for additional documents."

That means, what IO -1 says is not necessary the same as IO-2 or any other IO says.
All depends on which feet was the first out of bed.

I have learnt to bring as many documents as possible and everything copied in 3 copies to Immigration.
Better 10 documents too much than 1 document missing and repeat the whole procedure.

Yeah I've faced that, I have to bring my 3yo with me each time, so getting the prep work done beforehand saves the potential boredom tantrums later in the day if we're there too long.

Yes the photos can be the same ones.

New letter from the bank and your bank book updated on the day you apply.
