BANGKOK (NNT) - An innovative contactless body temperature screening device has been installed at Rajavithi Hospital. It was received as a donation from a private firm via the Ministry of Public Health.

’The new Smart Gate technology, installed at Rajavithi Hospital, is capable of measuring the body temperatures of hospital visitors in real time, without any contact, and is capable of detecting persons not wearing face coverings. This system can help reduce the screening time to one minute, and reduce physical contact, which could help limit the spread of diseases and increase safety among hospital staff and patients.

The hospital also unveiled 9 new isolation wards for respiratory patients, which will provide quicker access for patients in these wards to negative pressure chambers.

Rajavithi Hospital is a key facility, under the Ministry of Public Health, providing treatment for COVID-19 patients, in addition to the hospital’s regular patients. With some 6,000 outpatients visiting the hospital each day, the use of contactless Smart Gate technology can help reduce the workload and the amount of hospital staff required at the screening station.

The Smart Gate technology has been donated to Rajavithi Hospital by Touch Technologies, cooperating with the Department of Medical Services.
