The research arm of Kasikorn Thai reported that more than three quarters of Thais have made plans to travel in the fourth quarter.

But whether they will or not is highly debatable.

Many have indicated that they will cancel if there is a Covid outbreak. They are also keeping a close eye on the political protests and the state of the economy before deciding whether to take holidays away from home.

Bangkok Insight reported that this situation was creating a very unpredictable situation regarding Thai domestic tourism that is seen as the tourism industry's only hope with the absence of foreigners during the pandemic.

With 77.3% of people having made travel plans for the end of the years it is in fact slightly up on last year.

But whether when push comes to shove they actually will is entirely another matter.

They are also spending less per trip, the Kasikorn report showed, with spending on items such as souvenirs right down.
